On the morning of April 8, 2025 (Tuesday), CUFE Business School successfully held CUFE 2025 Special Topics Academic Lecture and the Third Lecture of CUFE Business School Academic Excellence Lecture Theatre 2025 in the Conference Room 615 of the Main Teaching Building of the College South Road Campus. The lecture invited Professor Huang Shuangfa from the School of Management of the University of Sheffield as the guest speaker. Teachers, doctoral students and master students of the School of CUFE Business attended the event.
The meeting was hosted by Professor Liu Wei from the Department of Organization and Human Resource Management, CUFE Business School. Before the formal start of the lecture, Professor Liu Wei gave a detailed introduction of Professor Huang Shuangfa's curriculum vitae. Professor Huang Shuangfa is currently the Director of Student Experience and PhD Supervisor at the University of Sheffield School of Management (SUMS), UK. Prior to joining SUMS, Professor Huang was a Senior Lecturer in Entrepreneurship and Innovation and Director of the PhD program in Business and Management at the University of Portsmouth.Professor Huang Shuangfa received his PhD in Management from Lancaster University, UK in 2018. Prior to starting his academic career, he worked in industry for 10 years. His current research interests include entrepreneurship, innovation and sustainability in the context of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and startups. He has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals such as Small Business Economics, Entrepreneurship and Regional Development, Journal of Business Research, International Journal of Entrepreneurial Behavior and Research, European Management Review, and European Management Journal.

Professor Huang Shuangfa's talk was titled "Exploring Resource Synergy - Strategic and Multipurpose Resources in Entrepreneurial Development". He pointed out that the growth of startups does not depend on a single resource, but rather on the synergy between strategic resources (e.g. intellectual property) and multi-purpose resources (e.g. human and financial capital). By analyzing four years of longitudinal data from 825 startups, he identifies four growth paths, emphasizes the importance of complementary resource utilization, and points out that environmental abundance has a compensatory role when resources are insufficient. This perspective not only reconciles the contradictions of previous studies, but also reveals the interaction mechanism between environmental factors and resource combinations, providing entrepreneurs, educators and managers with a new perspective on resource allocation and support.

After the lecture, the attending teachers and students engaged in lively discussions on topics such as qualitative comparative analysis of QCA research methods, data calibration, and path naming around Professor Huang Shuangfa's sharing theme, further promoting in-depth exchanges in academic research.
